Lead theft on the rise

Lead theft leaves local church with £100,000 repair bill.

BBC Look east has reported another case of lead theft in the local area.

St Peter and St Paul Church in Lavenham has had 7 tonnes of lead stolen from its roof resulting in a repair bill estimated at around £100,000.

Unfortunately the church didnt have any type of security system fitted to monitor the approach to the building, so the first indication of the theft was when the roof starting leaking.

A remotely monitored cctv system would offer external PIR detection and real time remote alarm monitoring with on and off site recording of video.
The theives would of triggered the detection which in turn would alert the control room staff that someone unauthorised was on site. The appropriate action would of taken place to provide an immediate response to the threat stopping the thieves in their tracks.
